JACK CARTY
Award winning, critically acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Jack Carty has recently relocated to the UK.
The move follows a massive few years off the back of the the release of 4 critically acclaimed full-length albums and 2 EP's; extensive national/international touring; appearances at SXSW, Primavera and Canadian Music Week; co-writes with the likes of Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift, Semisonic), Josh Pyke & Blair Dunlop; a national MusicOz award for Acoustic Singer-Songwriter of the year; and a biannual APRA Professional Development award in the Popular Contemporary Category - both in his native Australia.
In the midst of all this Carty decided to start his own label and release an album he produced, performed and recorded entirely himself in his own home, completely independently. The result was "Home State", one of Rhythms Magazine's Top 10 albums of 2016. It debuted at #1 on the AIR Independent album chart and #36 on the ARIA Album Chart. Such was the stir the album caused on home soil that it was picked up for release in the UK by Gilded Lily/Absolute; and so began Jack’s love affair with touring the British Isles. A headline run in October ’16 was followed quickly by a tour supporting Keston Cobblers Club in April ’17, including a sold out show at London's Union Chapel.
After heading home to complete the massive 'Home State, High Ceilings' Australian Tour of theatres, halls, churches and special spaces, Jack has landed in England and will now be touring, releasing and writing from his base in Brighton.
Jack Carty’s story stands as testament to the power of great songs, grassroots determination and a spellbinding live show, cementing his reputation as a writer and performer of incredible depth and imagination.
