About Jack

Jack Carty is an award-winning songwriter, musician, author, and graphic designer based in Brisbane, Australia. Raised in the valleys of the New South Wales mid-north coast and the banjos and bunting of Australia’s folk festivals, Jack developed a lifelong compulsion to create that has since seen him become one of the country’s most respected independent voices.

It is a path that has taken him around the world: touring his critically acclaimed indie-folk music across the UK, Europe, North America, and New Zealand. With a career now spanning seven studio albums and several EPs—including the #1 Independent Australian Album Home State and his most recent 2025 offering, In The Blue of The Day—Jack has built a loyal, grassroots following through honest storytelling and a powerful live show. Along the way, he has collaborated and shared stages with industry icons including Josh Pyke, Dan Wilson (Semisonic), Katie Noonan, Lisa Mitchell, Sarah Blasko, Bernard Fanning, Kate Miller-Heidke, Justin Towns-Earl and The Once.

Offstage, Jack is one-half of The Cardy Club, a vibrant, award-winning greetings card business he founded with his illustrator wife, Natasha, while the pair were living in the UK. Their whimsical creations are now sold in shops big and small, gifted and enjoyed across five continents.

In recent years, inspired by their two young children, The Cartys have expanded their collaboration into the world of literature. Their partnership has produced a series of celebrated children’s books published through Scholastic Australia, beginning with the lyrical lullaby Time to Rest (2024), followed by The Love We Share and the enchanting The Two-nicorn (2025). Whether through a song or a story, Jack’s work remains anchored in a trademark warmth and knack for a "gorgeous" turn of phrase.
